Update 4/3/2020

Postponement of Elective Procedures and Routine Appointments at Skyline Vision

Valued Patient,

Patient safety – and the safety of our team members – is always our #1 priority at Skyline Vision. In accordance with advisories from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Optometric Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we have decided to postpone all elective procedures. This includes general eye exams and elective procedures such as LASIK, cataract surgery, etc. We will contact patients to reschedule appointments as soon as possible.

At this time, we will still accept patients into our facility with urgent problems or those who require emergency care. This will allow us to alleviate the burden that eye care emergencies would place on hospital emergency departments. However, if you do have an urgent problem but are experiencing a respiratory illness or other flu-like symptoms, we ask that you please contact us prior to coming into our facility. While we are committed to helping save the vision of our patients, we must be responsible about keeping our other patients and our staff healthy and reducing the risk of infection.

Please understand that we are all trying to navigate the best ways to handle this dynamic situation. These decisions were made in response to an update we received from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Optometric Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at the end of the day on March 17, 2020. Information about COVID-19 is changing on a daily basis and we are continually reassessing how our practice should respond to increased risks and make the most educated decisions on how to provide or restrict patient care. We appreciate your patience as we all work through this situation.

Update 3/17/2020

Patient safety – and the safety of our team members – is always our #1 priority at Skyline Vision Clinic & Laser Center.

Information about COVID-19 is changing on a daily basis and we are continually reassessing how our practice should respond to increased risks. As of March 17, 2020, our practice remains OPEN, but with these caveats:

  • At-risk patients will be contacted directly to reschedule appointments. This is to ensure your safety and the safety of our team members.
  • We have modified our schedules so we can limit the amount of staff and patients in our facility at any one time (10 or less). This is to help our team and patients remain healthy but continue to provide quality care.

If you are experiencing a respiratory illness or other symptoms of the coronavirus, we ask that you please reschedule your appointment. While we are committed to helping protect the vision of our patients, we must be responsible about keeping our other patients and our staff healthy and reducing the risk of infection.

Please understand that we are all trying to navigate the best ways to handle this dynamic situation. We are receiving updates from the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as Centers for Disease Control so we can make the most educated decisions on how to provide or restrict patient care. We appreciate your patience as we all work through this situation.

Update 3/12/2020

Learn how Skyline Vision is addressing coronavirus at all locations.

Valued Patient,

Patient safety – and the safety of our team members – is always our #1 priority at Skyline Vision Clinic & Laser Center. We take pride in maintaining disinfected environments at all of our southern Colorado locations as well as our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). With the development of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Colorado, we have amplified our sanitization protocols to provide an additional layer of protection for our patients and staff.

  • Exam rooms continue to be thoroughly disinfected after every patient encounter. All surfaces are disinfected: exam chair, companion chair, work surfaces, door handles, surgical light handles, etc.
  • Public areas continue to be disinfected multiple times each day: waiting area, counters, bathrooms and other high touch surfaces.

Even with these safety measures in place, it is important for our patients and staff members to make responsible decisions about keeping appointments or coming into work. Please call us to reschedule your appointment or surgery if you, someone you live with or the person driving you to your appointment:

  • Is currently feeling sick or has any early flu-like symptoms
  • Has been exposed to a COVID-19 patient
  • Has traveled to a Level 2 country or higher

We are also asking our staff and patients to follow these safety measures:

  • Refrain from handshaking.
  • Wash your hands or use our hand sanitizer upon arrival.
  • Avoid touching your face (nose, mouth, eyes).
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a clean tissue, dispose of it and immediately wash your hands for at least 20 seconds.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before inserting or removing contact lenses.

Please call us at (719) 630-3937 if you have any questions. Thank you for trusting us to provide the safest eye care possible.

Sincerely,

Skyline Vision Clinic & Laser Center Team
