Vivity IOL

Alcon AcrySof® IQ Vivity Extended Depth of Focus Lens

For Cataract Patients Who Want it All!

If you have been diagnosed with cataracts – and you also wear glasses to see clearly – you may think that your vision will never return to its youthful glory. But that may not be the case!

At Skyline Vision Clinic & Laser Center, we are excited to offer cataract patients a revolutionary new cataract lens replacement technology: the Alcon AcrySof® IQ Vivity™ Extended Vision Lens.

Vivity is the first and only non-diffractive extended depth of focus intraocular lens (IOL) that incorporates X-WAVE™ technology to stretch and shift light entering your eyes so you can obtain a continuous, extended range of vision. With the Vivity lens, you may not need glasses (even readers) to see clearly at all distances after cataract surgery.

How Vivity Differs from Multifocal IOLs

Multifocal IOLs use diffractive technology to split light entering the eyes into multiple focal points, so your vision with a multifocal IOL may not be as seamless as with the Vivity lens. In contrast, Vivity’s new non-diffractive technology may also provide:

  • Sharper vision in bright and dim lighting
  • Reduction of halos, starbursts or glare
  • Better vision for nighttime driving
  • Protection from damaging UV rays and blue light

The non-diffractive technology allows more patients to be considered good candidates for the Vivity lens. If you have astigmatism, there is a toric version of the Vivity lens that can address this vision problem as well.

Can Anyone Get the Vivity IOL in Colorado Springs?

If you have certain eye conditions or overall health concerns, the Vivity lens may not be the best option to improve your vision after cataract surgery. The only way to know for sure is by scheduling a cataract evaluation with one of our specialists. We’ll provide an honest assessment of your unique eye health and recommend the best option for you.

Is the Vivity Lens Covered by Insurance?

Cataract surgery with monofocal lenses is typically covered by insurance and Medicare. If you choose to upgrade your vision with the Vivity lens, there will be some added out-of-pocket expenses. According to patient feedback gathered from Alcon, 90% of patients who invested in the Vivity lens were satisfied with their results and 93% would recommend the lens to others. In short, the lifestyle improvements are worth the extra expense for most patients!
